Kelor Island
Kelor Island is near the island of Onrust and Bidadari. The distance to the Ancol beach is about 1.8 km or an hour by boat. In this island lies a Dutch heritage in the form of shipbuilding and fortress built by VOC to block the Portuguese in the 17th century. Also, there are Sevent Provincien or Cemetery of Seven Ships and Indonesian crew who revolt and falling into the hands of the Dutch.
Rambut Island
Rambut island is also known by the name of the Kingdom of Bird Island. The size of 45 hectares, is covered with lush mangrove forests and beautiful coral reefs. The Dutch call this island Nidelberg. Under normal circumstances, it is about 20,000 birds live on the island. In March and September, the number rose to 50,000 birds. The birds had probably come from Australia. The Island is determined by the government as a bird sanctuary, while some nearby Bokor Island as marine protected areas. Bird Island cited in the west of Jakarta.
Ayer Island
Ayer island or Pulau Ayer described as the Pearl of the Islands. The area is less than ten acres, adjacent to Marina Beach, Ancol and can be reached within 30 minutes by speed boat. The island has been welcoming visitors since 1950. Even in life, the former president Sukarno made Pulau Ayer as a retreat site. Former President Sukarno had also invited the former President Tito of Yugoslavia and former Secretary General of the United Nations, U Nu, to visit of this island. Afloat cottage with ethnic style Papua is the pride of the island which is only 14 km (30 minutes) from Marina Ancol. On the island cottages also available on the coast, puerto penasco condos, night fishing facilities, jet skiing and banana boat. This is one of the Thousand Island groups, which has freshwater sources.
Puteri Island
Puteri Island is located in the north of the Thousand Islands. Therefore, the long range from Jakarta, plane is more practical. From Kemayoran, a flight to Panjang Island was closer to the Puteri and continued by boat to the island. Position of the Puteri Island is isolated and away from the other islands. Beautiful white sand beaches, ornamental fish aquarium, underwater aquarium, tennis courts and lizards in a mini-zoo. The long distance from Jakarta make the island become pretty much perfect site for swimming, snorkeling and diving.
Matahari Island
The island is closed for renovation. Matahari has a two-floor cottages with luxurious rooms and facilities for water sports and fishing. The island has a helicopter landing pad.
Sepa Island
Sepa Island has white sand beaches, clear waters and a sandy beach. This island is a training ground for beginners to get open-water diving license. The island is about half an hour from Ancol Marina and known as an ideal place for swimming, diving, snorkeling, or fishing. Available on this island water sports facilities such as diving equipment rentals. Sepa Island is a turtle breeding station (Eretnochelys imbricata) which its mouth seems to be a bird’s beak. Sepa Island has no source of freshwater and in the bathroom cottage is brackish water.
