Way Kambas National Park is representative of floodplain ecosystem includes freshwater swamp forests, meadows/bush and coastal forests in Sumatra. Plant species in the park, among others, Api-api (Avicennia marina), Pidada (Sonneratia sp.), Nipah (Nypa fruticans), Glam (Melaleuca Leucadendron), Salam (Syzygium polyanthum), Rawang (Glochidion borneensis), Ketapang (Terminalia cattapa), Sea Pines (Casuarina equisetifolia), Pandan (Pandanus sp.), Puspa (Schima wallichii), Meranti (Shorea sp.), Minyak (Dipterocarpus gracilis) and Ramin (Gonystylus banc anus).
Way Kambas National Park has 50 species of mammals, including the Sumatran rhinoceros (sumatrensis Dicerorhinus), Sumatran elephant (Elephas maximus sumatranus), Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae), Tapir (Tapirus indicus), Coyote (Cuon alpinus sumatrensis), Siamang (Hylobates syndactylus syndactylus), 406 bird species, including forest (Cairina scutulata), yarn, clothing (Ciconia episcopus Stormi), storks ships (Leptoptilos javanicus), sempidan blue (Lophura ignita), pheasants (Argusianus argus argus), pecuk snake (Anhinga melanogaster), various types of reptiles, amphibians, fish and insects. Wild elephants are to be trained at the Elephant Training Center (9 miles from the gate Plakat Ijo), such as elephant riding, sightseeing, transportation of timber and plowing the fields are used. In the elephant training center, you will be shown training coaches and training of wild elephants, elephants play football attractions, dancing, shaking hands, respectful, draping flower, rope pulling, swimming and many other attractions.
Elephant Training Center was established in 1985. To this day, has managed to train and tame elephants about 290 birds.
